Hot off the Press!

From Boston to Aspen, Nantucket, Maui, and elsewhere around the globe, David Novick has led an unusual life. This book, his collection of true short stories, illustrates the incredible range of experiences Novick has had over the past seven decades. Memorable adventures of chivalry, troubling loss, and the humor of everyday occurrences are behind many of his stories. Some stories are moving, some are uplifting, but all make for an immensely enjoyable read.
A FEW OF THE STORIES WAITING FOR YOU.
A Real Hitch Hiking Adventure
In the distance there were lights approaching. We could discern a noise that kept getting louder. The sound though was modified, muffled by the immense snow. I stuck out my thumb. It was a big tractor trailer rig...It passed by and gradually vanished in the massive whiteness. We weren't aware of any options so we stayed in the same spot and waited. The wind was fierce and the visibility was exceptionally poor.
Nantucket Wise
She had a huge room with many beds arranged in rows. She rented out bed space for the night. All who stayed there were young men seeking summer employment. I later learned that her place was known Flossie's Flop House. I shared this room with about eight or nine other guys. The corners all had spider webs, the room itself was quite dusty. The bed I slept on had a very lumpy mattress. This was where I stayed my first week on Nantucket
The Suspect or not The Suspect
It was the weekend and Aspen was bustling with tourists. The sky was perfectly clear and the February sun felt warm against my face...Aspen Mountain was magnificent against the blue sky. The ski trails looked like a network of great white ribbons cutting through steep slopes of thick pines. Across the valley Red Mountain had its own beautiful sleepy presence. On this particular day something very strange was happening. It seemed everywhere I looked I saw a police vehicle.
An Exciting Night in Hawaii
One night I was walking home after visiting with friends in town. It was a perfectly clear night. All the stars in the vast Pacific sky were shimmering. The presence of the ocean was overwhelming. Waves would break and wash upon the sandy shore. It made a continuous chanting sound that lulled one to a calm state of being. I was approaching China's Polynesian Restaurant. Across the street was a beach side parking area.
The screaming cries of a girl awoke my attention.
“I loved it! David brings you on his vivid and varied adventures.I felt I knew the characters he portrayed along the way.”
